Disaster Planning and Recovery Services

TronixSystem provides disaster planning and recovery services to help our clients safeguard their businesses. The most critical step a business can take to prepare for a disaster, such as a Hurricane, flood or fire is to formulate (and keep updating) a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). TronixSystem can help our clients prepare their BCP. This document identifies and documents key people (personnel, vendors, contractors, clients and customers) critical documents (legal papers, utility bills, banking information, HR documents, building lease papers, tax returns) critical equipment (office equipment, hardware and software applications) the risks that are likely to happen to the business based on factors such as geography contingency plans and prioritized step-by-step instructions for recovery in different situations. A key element of the BCP is planning for disaster recovery (DR) of the business’ IT infrastructure.

Server fire damageMost TronixSystem’ clients use TronixSystem’s backup technology called Total Server Protection (TSP), which backs up the server operating system and all data. TronixSystem’s technical support staff tests our clients’ backups every month to ensure that the data can be restored in the event of a disaster.

Before a disaster hits, and if time permits, TronixSystem techs connect to client servers and remotely shut them down in the required sequence. After disaster passes, and if no damage was done to equipment, TronixSystem staff works around the clock to restore IT services. In addition, TronixSystem offers business continuity services to our clients who are unable to conduct business from their own office space after the disaster.

Even if they cannot return to their offices, clients using TronixSystem’s services are able to access their email, applications, and data remotely from anywhere they can connect to the internet. Server rack under FloodTronixSystem will set up hosted email services in our Cloud enabling email service and will reconfigure iPhones, androids, and Blackberries to retrieve emails from the new hosted server. We can also restore client data of their TSP backups onto our Cloud so clients can access their data and business applications.
If a client needs temporary office space, TronixSystem can set up a temporary Disaster Operations Center (DOC) with workstations and phones. By forwarding clients’ phones to our DOC, temporarily hosting email in our Cloud, and restoring backups into our data center, clients are able to conduct business until their offices become operational. Our temporary quarters can be outfitted with furniture and systems.
While no one can predict when and where disasters will happen, proper preparation and TronixSystem’ all-encompassing IT support can minimize the resulting disruption to your business.server room fireflooded data center disaster recovery 500

Ever changing climate

hurricane sandy

Flooding and power outages caused by Hurricane Sandy have forced several New York data centers to switch to generator power. But those generators are quickly running out of fuel, so data center companies are telling their customers to shut down their servers and move workloads elsewhere.

One of the worst situations is at 75 Broad Street in Manhattan, where both Internap and Peer1 Hosting are shutting down operations "after basement-level flooding disabled critical diesel fuel pumps," Data Center Knowledge reports. 75 Broad Street is part of the "Zone A" portion of the city that is under emergency evacuation orders, as is another data center operated by Datagram at 33 Whitehall Street. The Datagram outage led to downtime for popular websites Gawker, Huffington Post, and BuzzFeed.

Peer1's official network status page reported last night that it was running on emergency generator power. This morning, the company said "we have an estimate of 4 hours for the fuel left on our generators. Our techs and facility are continuously working to get emergency fuel delivery on time and was looking to set-up a temporary tank and pump since the basement is still flooded. In the event of not receiving the fuel on time, worst case scenario is we will have to gracefully shutdown the facility."
